Summer’s End by Peter Serchuk
Summer clings to the last of its green,
although its face wears a new complexion.
Days of heat now recede and the bees,
their season past, say goodnight to their Queen.
It’s only time until breezes give way to winds
and leaves unwind. Only time until yesterday
becomes nostalgia’s dream and what remains
its homeless cousin.
