It’s been seven years since I started The Alipore Post in my bedroom back in Calcutta. I was a young girl full of passion and curiosity who kept stumbling upon gems in the treasure chest that is the Internet.
The newsletter has always been a space where I could share my discoveries, be it poems, new artists or musicians, articles, short stories, websites. It is still that, at its core. Now, there’s also the journal, and the vibrant Instagram online community, which has grown so much since that first day I started emailing a bunch of strangers and friends a poem and artwork back in 2015.
As a community, we’ve written poems for 30 days together, we’ve hung out and made zines, we’ve read and written poems together. Some of the people I’ve met through The Alipore Post are now my best friends. I’m still in awe of how slow and rewarding this process has been, and the amazing people I’ve met along the way.
Thank you all for being a part of this journey. For letting me fill up your inboxes and timelines with all the creative findings I’m so delighted to come across, day in, day out.
And a big thank you for this beautiful painting, Yamuna. I connect so strongly with this woman in your painting today.
To seven, maybe even 70 more years of discovery and chasing curiosity! 🌻
Love,
Rohini
Happy Birthday 🎉
Congratulations! In three years you'll be a perfect ten. Cheers!
